Draft status
These Community Guidelines are draft platform standards pending professional legal and safety review. They are intended to describe the behaviour JustUs expects from members.
Respect is part of the culture
JustUs is built for meaningful dating across the global Black diaspora. Members are expected to treat each other with dignity, honesty and care, whether they share the same background or come from different cultures, countries, faiths or experiences.
Identity, culture and difference
- Do not stereotype, mock or reduce anyone to their ethnicity, nationality, accent, language, skin tone, body type, faith, gender, orientation or immigration background.
- Do not fetishise Black people, diaspora identity, mixed heritage, specific nationalities, accents, body features or skin tones.
- Do not use colourism, caste-like hierarchies, texturism or other forms of discrimination to demean or exclude members.
- Shared culture can be meaningful, but it does not give anyone permission to pressure, shame or control another person.
Harassment and sexual conduct
- No harassment, bullying, stalking, intimidation, threats or repeated unwanted contact.
- No sexual harassment, coercion, explicit messages without consent or pressure to move faster than someone wants.
- No non-consensual intimate images, image-based abuse, revenge content or requests for intimate content under pressure.
- No attempts to contact someone after they block, unmatch or ask you to stop.
Hate and discrimination
Hate speech, discriminatory abuse or dehumanising language is not allowed. This includes conduct based on race, ethnicity, colour, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or other protected or personal characteristics.
Scams, exploitation and safety
- Do not ask members for money, gift cards, crypto, banking details, passport details or verification codes.
- Do not run romance scams, visa scams, investment schemes or fake emergency stories.
- Do not exploit vulnerability, grief, loneliness, distance, immigration status or family pressure.
- Do not promote illegal activity or arrange unsafe meetings.
Authenticity and impersonation
- Use accurate profile information and current photos of yourself.
- Do not impersonate another person, create fake identities or mislead members about who you are.
- Do not create accounts for minors, organisations, bots or people who have not consented.
- Do not attempt to evade enforcement by creating new accounts after suspension.
Underage use
JustUs is for adults aged 18 and over. Underage use is not allowed. If you believe a member is under 18, report the profile from inside the app so the team can review it.
Reporting and review
Members can report and block from profiles and conversations. Reports may be reviewed by people with access to relevant account, profile and safety information.
Depending on the situation, JustUs may remove content, restrict features, suspend accounts or take other safety action. Final enforcement, appeal and notice processes require legal review before the guidelines are published as final.
